It is indeed. So far I have only tried it against Mages, and that works fine.
Combo: Play Static Field, Give it to opponent, play Mirror Shield. Now all your creatures deal 1 extra unavoidable damage, and they don't have a useful shield. Static Field can also be used by you for a while before you draw a Give. Remember that Give+a sheild destroys the opponent's shield, so use that to your advantage. If you are close to dying, don't be afraid to use Give on a Light Tower to heal 10HP.
